inZOI, Krafton’s ambitious life simulation game and The Sims competitor, has achieved a remarkable milestone—selling over 1 million copies within just one week of its Early Access release. This impressive feat marks the fastest sales achievement ever recorded for a title published by the South Korean gaming giant.

Launched on PC via Steam on March 28, inZOI quickly captured global attention. However, the game also found itself at the center of controversy when players discovered an unintended feature that allowed them to run over and kill children. Krafton swiftly addressed the issue, labeling it an “unintended bug” and releasing a patch to correct it.

Despite this early setback, inZOI continues to receive a ‘very positive’ user review rating on Steam. The game also enjoyed a surge in popularity on Twitch, peaking at 175,000 concurrent viewers and ranking third in the Games category. Within just 40 minutes of launch, it soared to the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers List by sales revenue.

The game’s built-in UGC (user-generated content) sharing platform, Canvas, also saw tremendous engagement. On launch day alone, more than 1.2 million users participated, with over 470,000 pieces of content uploaded—showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of the community.

IGN’s inZOI Early Access review awarded the game a 6/10, stating: “inZOI is a visually striking life simulator with plenty of ambition, but not enough depth as of its Early Access launch.

Krafton attributes much of inZOI’s success to its strategic pre-launch marketing efforts and strong engagement with the player community. These initiatives helped build trust and momentum leading up to release. According to the publisher, the inZOI global showcase and demo build were particularly effective in generating interest.

Krafton CEO CH Kim expressed enthusiasm about the game's reception: “We are grateful and excited to present inZOI to players around the world through Early Access. We will continue to actively communicate with players and foster inZOI as Krafton’s long-term franchise IP.”

Looking ahead, Krafton has outlined plans for continuous improvement and expansion. Future updates will introduce new content such as mod support and additional cities. All updates and DLC will be offered for free until the game reaches its full release.

In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to implementing quick fixes through hotfixes throughout April. The developer acknowledged the scale of inZOI’s global audience as a new and exciting challenge, describing it as “a next-level experience for us,” while also admitting it is still “going through some trial and error in finding the optimal means of communication.”
