The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.
In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay. He specifically highlighted the need for significant improvements to both the core gameplay mechanics and the monster hunting experience. His exact words were: “We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience.”
Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should showcase the power and intensity of monster battles, focusing on improved choreography and emotional impact.
Witcher 4 promises a major combat overhaul. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recognizes the shortcomings of past Witcher games' combat, and plans to address these issues, improvements that will likely carry over into future installments featuring Ciri as the protagonist of the new trilogy.
Interestingly, the developers also plan to incorporate Triss's wedding into the game. Originally intended for Novigrad in Witcher 3's "Ashen Marriage" quest, the storyline depicts Triss's affection for Castello and her desire for a swift wedding. In this version, Geralt aids in the preparations, tasks including monster extermination, procuring alcohol, and choosing a wedding gift.
