Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

By JulianMay 14,2025

Valve has recently released a substantial update for Deadlock, featuring a major overhaul of the game's map. The new design shifts from the original four lanes to a more conventional three-lane layout, mirroring the structure often seen in traditional MOBA games. This transformation is poised to significantly alter the gameplay dynamics, compelling players to rethink their strategies for resource allocation. Previously, the "1 vs 2" lane split was common, but with the new map, teams are likely to deploy two heroes per lane, fundamentally changing the approach to the game.

The map's redesign extends to the finer details, such as the strategic placement of neutral camps, buffs, and other key elements. To aid players in acclimating to the updated map, Valve has introduced a new "map exploration" mode. This feature allows players to navigate the environment freely, without the presence of enemies or allies, making it easier to get accustomed to the new layout.

Alongside the map changes, the patch also revamps the Soul Orb system. Players can now collect souls without needing to deliver the final blow to enemies, which should accelerate resource gathering. Additionally, the effects of souls have been modified, with reduced hover times in the air.

Further enhancements include adjustments to sprint mechanics and character balance. The update also introduces support for advanced technologies such as DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0, enhancing the overall performance of the game. Numerous bugs have been fixed as well.
