Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises to offer players a level of freedom that significantly diverges from the studio's past endeavors. Inspired by the acclaimed Elden Ring, the developers are set to integrate similar mechanics that emphasize open-world exploration. Journalist Ben Hanson has shared that the game unfolds on a single expansive planet, inviting players to unravel the secrets of a lost civilization and delve into a new religion, which is poised to be a central narrative theme. Although it's not yet clear how closely the game will adhere to traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the team is steering away from the linear gameplay of their previous titles.

A notable shift in this project is the solo experience it offers. As Neil Druckmann explains, the studio's goal is to evoke a profound sense of solitude in an uncharted universe, while also exploring deep themes of faith and religion. The narrative unfolds in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over six centuries. It is here that players control bounty hunter Jordan Moon, who arrives on the planet as part of her mission.

Druckmann further reveals that the game draws inspiration from titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This influence suggests a move away from conventional hints, leaning instead towards a narrative style where players piece together the story themselves through environmental cues and fragmented clues.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at TGA 2024, but a release date has yet to be announced. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await more details on how this ambitious project will redefine the studio's approach to game design and storytelling.
