Monster Hunter Wilds Aims To Lower Minimum PC Specs

Console Performance Targets Revealed

In a comprehensive community update streamed on December 19th at 9AM EST / 6AM PST, the Monster Hunter Wilds team, including director Yuya Tokuda, delved into the enhancements and adjustments planned for the game's full launch post-Open Beta Test (OBT). One of the key revelations was the performance targets set for various consoles.

For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, players will have the flexibility to choose between two modes: Prioritize Graphics and Prioritize Framerate. Opting for graphics will enable gameplay at a stunning 4K resolution but at 30fps, while prioritizing framerate will offer a smooth 60fps experience at 1080p resolution. Meanwhile, Xbox Series S users will enjoy a native 1080p resolution at 30fps. Notably, a rendering bug in the Framerate mode has been addressed, leading to enhanced performance.

Monster Hunter Wilds Minimum Required Specs Will Be Lowered

Although specifics on the PS5 Pro's performance were not detailed, it was confirmed that an enhanced graphics patch will be available upon the console's launch next year, coinciding with Monster Hunter Wilds' release.

For PC gamers, performance will naturally vary based on individual hardware and settings. While initial PC specs were previously disclosed, the development team is actively working to lower the minimum required specifications to make the game accessible to a broader audience. Detailed updates on these adjustments will be forthcoming as the release date approaches. Additionally, Capcom is exploring the possibility of releasing a PC benchmark tool to help players gauge their system's readiness.

The team also discussed the potential for a second open beta test, emphasizing it as an opportunity for those who missed the first round to experience the game. This hypothetical test would include new options for players to explore, though it won't feature the changes discussed in the livestream. These updates and improvements will be reserved for the full release.

Other topics covered in the stream included adjustments to hitstop and sound effects to enhance the game's feel of impact and weight, as well as measures to mitigate friendly fire. Special attention was given to the refinement of weapons like the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance, among others.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28th, 2025, and will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the exciting release date!
