According to Remedy's annual report, Control 2 has successfully passed the concept validation stage and has now moved into full production. This milestone is a clear indicator of the project's promising future, signaling that development is progressing as planned.
In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are currently in active development: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. Just a year ago, these titles were in the early stages of production preparation, but they have since advanced to the next phase. However, the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from Remedy's lineup. It was officially canceled in May of last year.
All of these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its capabilities in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy games.
Regarding budgets, Control 2 is set with an estimated budget of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and is slated for release on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak comes with a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This title will be available on PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The remakes of Max Payne 1+2 keep their budget details under wraps, but it's confirmed that they will be AAA-level games. Both development and marketing costs are fully covered by Rockstar Games.
