Beast Hides are potential drops from wildlife such as moose and boar, which randomly spawn in specific areas like the ruined city and forest sections of the game's world. These animals are easily identifiable on the mini-map with their white icons, contrasting the black icons of machines. Unlike machines, wildlife does not spawn frequently, so knowing where to look is essential for farming them effectively.

When you encounter these animals, their behavior depends on your level relative to theirs. Lower-level animals may flee, while those at or above your level might become aggressive, especially if you approach too closely. Wildlife also boasts significant health pools, making early-game encounters with higher-level animals quite challenging.

To facilitate encounters with wildlife, you can use Animal Bait, which can lure animals closer, making them easier targets. Since wildlife doesn't respawn continuously during the main story, you'll need to kill them as you explore and then move on to find new spawns.
