The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions to use in *Phasmophobia*, offering a favorable balance of risk and reward. Even with game updates altering its benefits, it remains a strong choice for players.

The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to compel the ghost to perform evidence-related actions. This is achieved by inserting pins into the doll, one at a time. This technique is particularly useful when dealing with uncooperative or silent ghosts, as it can provoke them into revealing evidence such as EMF5 or Ultraviolet prints.

The doll contains 10 pins, each of which, when inserted, reduces the user's sanity by 5%. Inserting all pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts.

However, the most critical risk is associated with the pin in the doll's heart. The order in which you insert the pins is random, and if you happen to insert the heart pin, your sanity will drop by an additional 10%, and a Cursed Hunt will be immediately triggered. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will spawn near your location and pursue you for an extended period (20 seconds longer than usual).

Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a worthwhile tool for gathering evidence, provided you are well-prepared and cautious.

Cursed Possessions, often referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in *Phasmophobia* that can randomly appear on any map. Their presence can vary based on difficulty settings or whether you're playing Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment that helps locate the ghost and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts or cheats to manipulate the ghost's behavior, but at a much higher risk to your character. The safety of using these objects varies, depending on their specific abilities, and it's up to you and your team to decide whether to engage with them. There's no penalty for avoiding them, and only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, unless altered in Custom settings.

There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
