Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes

By SkylarApr 15,2025

The first public test server (PTS) for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, providing an exciting sneak peek at the highly anticipated Update 7.0. In a recent community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive shared preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which include most of the features set to be introduced in the 7.0 update. However, they caution that the final patch notes might differ as they continue to refine and fix bugs.

PC players participating in the PTS have a lot to explore, as Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission called "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol—available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, and the introduction of prestige ranks in PvE. Additionally, players can now enjoy private PvP lobbies, enhancing their competitive experience.

For fans of customization, Update 7.0 brings new color options like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. PvP rewards have also been boosted by 50%, giving players more incentives to engage in combat. The PTS version also introduces new champion skins for the Tactical and Vanguard classes, including an Imperial Fists Champion and a Space Wolves Champion, respectively.

Significant balance changes accompany the update, notably expanding the weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes greater choice in their weaponry. For instance, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without the need for mods. A detailed look at the patch notes reveals numerous tweaks to the game's extensive weapon lineup.

A notable gameplay improvement comes to the Inferno Operation, where players reaching the assembly area in the final stage will now trigger a forced teleportation for other players after a brief notification period. This change addresses a previous issue where players could block progress by lingering outside the assembly area, a common griefing tactic.
