Monster Hunter Wilds: Unique Weapon Designs Revealed - IGN First

By EllieMay 01,2025

Fans of the Monster Hunter series have expressed mixed feelings about the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, prompting curiosity about whether Monster Hunter Wilds will follow a similar approach. Although only a few weapons from Wilds have been revealed, it's been challenging to form a comprehensive opinion on their design philosophy. However, Monster Hunter Wilds Director Yuya Tokuda has provided clarity on this matter.

In a discussion about the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda shared, "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design." This direct comparison to the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World clearly indicates that fans don't need to worry about weapons looking too similar in Monster Hunter Wilds. While some weapons in Monster Hunter: World eventually became entirely unique with upgrades, many remained similar, as seen in the example of the final aqua line Sword and Shield compared to the final Pukei-Pukei sword and shield, and the final bone line long sword versus the final Jyuratodus long sword.
