inZOI's Director Unveils Plans for Karma System and Ghostly Encounters
inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim recently revealed intriguing details about an upcoming Karma system, introducing a paranormal element to the game's realistic simulation. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.
According to Kim's February 7, 2025 Discord post, Zois with sufficient Karma points will transition to the afterlife. However, those with insufficient points will linger as ghosts until they accrue enough Karma to move on. The specific actions required to increase Karma points remain undisclosed for now.
Kim assures players that ghostly interactions will be carefully balanced to avoid overshadowing the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to specific times and conditions, primarily involving unique conversations.
While prioritizing the refinement of inZOI's realistic aspects, Kim expressed interest in expanding the game's scope to include more fantasy elements in the future. He believes that these occasional departures from strict realism can enhance the overall experience.
A Glimpse into Karma Interactions
A sponsored video by content creator MadMorph, part of a Krafton Inc. collaboration in August 2024, offered a brief preview of the Karma system. The video showcased "Karma Interactions," a menu providing various actions impacting a Zoi's Karma score. Examples shown included negative actions (like secretly farting on another Zoi) and positive actions (like disposing of trash or liking a friend's post), though not all were demonstrated.
While the Early Access release (March 28, 2025 on Steam) will focus on the living Zois, the full impact of the Karma system and its ghostly consequences will be revealed later. Players can anticipate a unique and evolving gameplay experience as inZOI develops.
