30-40 Hour Main Campaign
In a recent interview with Games Radar, The Blood of Dawnwalker's creative director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, emphasized that despite being a smaller studio launching their debut game, the team at Rebel Wolves is determined to achieve the same stellar quality as CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3. When questioned about the game's classification between indie and AAA, Tomaszkiewicz clarified, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."
The team at Rebel Wolves, while operating under a new studio name, is far from inexperienced. Comprising former developers who contributed to The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the founders Mateusz and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz established Rebel Wolves to enjoy greater creative freedom, unbound by the constraints typically faced at larger AAA studios like CDPR.
Tomaszkiewicz further elaborated on the game's scope, "Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter." He noted that The Blood of Dawnwalker is targeting a main campaign length of 30-40 hours, which, while shorter than typical AAA titles, does not compromise on quality. "If size is your measure, then yes it's not the size of a AAA like The Witcher. But I don't know if size is the measure, to be honest, because there are AAA games like Call of Duty that aren't 100+ hours gameplay campaigns. And I don't know if anyone would call them AA, or indie."
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to be a narrative-driven open-world dark fantasy RPG, taking place in the mystical land of Vale Sangora. Players will assume the role of protagonist Coen, a young peasant who gains vampiric powers after a fateful encounter with one of the land's most powerful vampires. His journey is driven by a personal mission to save his ailing sister, navigating through the challenges and dangers of this dark, fantastical realm.
Although a specific release date has not been announced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025, offering a glimpse into the high-quality experience Rebel Wolves is crafting.
