Bloober Team, the studio behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, recently revealed a fascinating concept: a Lord of the Rings survival horror game. In a Bonfire Conversations podcast, game director Mateusz Lenart shared that the team explored the idea of a grim, immersive horror experience set within the dark corners of Middle-earth.
Unfortunately, securing the rights to the Lord of the Rings franchise proved impossible, leaving the project unrealized. However, fans remain enthusiastic about the potential, citing the rich dark storylines within Tolkien's works as ideal for creating a chilling atmosphere.
Currently, Bloober Team is concentrating on their new title, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potential future collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill projects. Whether they will revisit the Lord of the Rings horror concept remains uncertain, but the prospect of a game featuring terrifying Nazgûl or Gollum certainly captures the imagination.
