Marvel Rivals' Season 1: The Thing Arrives!
Season 1 of Marvel Rivals kicked off with the addition of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, but fans eagerly awaited the arrival of The Thing and Human Torch. The wait is finally over! Here's the release date for The Thing and a look at his abilities.
The Thing's Marvel Rivals Debut:
The first half of Marvel Rivals' Season 1 concludes, making way for the second half, launching February 21st. This update brings rank adjustments and, most importantly, the remaining members of Marvel's First Family. The Thing, alongside the Human Torch, joins the Marvel Rivals roster on February 21st.
The Thing's Abilities:
The Thing is designed as a Vanguard—a tank—in Marvel Rivals, specializing in melee combat. His attacks focus on close-quarters punching and smashing. While sharing similarities with The Hulk, his unique abilities set him apart. Based on leaks, his kit includes:
- Furious Charge: A dash forward, launching enemies into the air and leaving a stunning seismic zone.
- Battlefield Support: A quick jump to assist a teammate, providing damage reduction for both.
- Slam Moment (Ultimate): An ultimate ability that launches all nearby enemies into the air, creating kill opportunities for the team.
- Solid as a Rock (Passive): Immunity to knockback and crowd control effects.
- Team-Up Ability: Similar to the Hulk, The Thing can throw Wolverine as a projectile attack. His primary attack consists of rapid, low-damage punches, while his secondary attack is a charged punch for increased damage.
The Thing appears to be a frontline tank, acting as a damage sponge for his team. While sharing some similarities with Hulk or Venom, he's not a dive tank. He may prove a strong alternative to existing tanks like Doctor Strange or Magneto, but his true role will be determined once he's in-game.
Team Compositions:
Based on his abilities, The Thing synergizes well with tanks like Thor, Hulk, and Peni Parker. Wolverine is a strong DPS option, as are ranged DPS characters like Hawkeye or Namor. Healers like Mantis and Luna Snow are also good choices, given The Thing's limited mobility.
The Thing's release date and abilities are exciting additions to Marvel Rivals. Prepare for battle!
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
