Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious region located in the north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Encircled by deadly Deathfog and separated from the mainland by a destroyed bridge, reaching this enigmatic island poses a significant challenge. However, navigating to Bloodmoon Island is essential for deepening the main storyline and unlocking additional side quests in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The game may not offer explicit guidance on overcoming the Deathfog barrier, leading players to scour Reaper's Coast for clues. Here's how you can successfully reach Bloodmoon Island and further your journey.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Originally, Bloodmoon Island was accessible via a bridge from Reaper's Coast, specifically located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the haunts of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll also find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, you can cast Spirit Vision to uncover the bridge's broken sections, which are split into segments, some of which are trapped. Navigating this spectral bridge requires skill or specific items:
Gloves of Teleportation: These can be obtained early in the game and allow you to teleport without the skill. Although time-consuming, these gloves can help teleport your party across the bridge.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation capabilities, essential for crossing the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills.
Teleporter Pyramids: With four available in the game, these artifacts enable teleportation between them. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can cross the bridge using translocation skills. Once across, the rest of the party can teleport to their location.
Fast Travel: If a party member with translocation skills reaches the other side and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there, bypassing the bridge entirely.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

For parties including Fane, an undead character immune to Deathfog, an alternative route to Bloodmoon Island exists. Northwest of Cloisterwood lies a pier with an undead ferryman offering passage across the Deathfog. However, this is a deceptive offer; all but Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane travels alone, he can safely reach the island, discover the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to join him.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If your party doesn't include Fane but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Separate the party and place a pyramid in the inventory of the companion boarding the ferry.
- This companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- The remaining party members can then use the second pyramid to teleport to the deceased companion.
- Revive the dead companion with a resurrection spell or scroll to continue your adventure.
Without Fane, crossing the bridge is the most efficient method to reach Bloodmoon Island.
Be cautious around the Undead Ferryman; attacking him can trigger a Deathfog spell, leading to instant party wipe. If you decide to fight him, ensure you've quick-saved beforehand. Victory over the ferryman yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
