Palworld Update 0.5.0 Adds Crossplay Across All Platforms, Blueprint Upgrading, Photo Mode and More

By CamilaApr 27,2025

Palworld's latest update, v0.5.0, introduces a highly anticipated feature: crossplay across all platforms. This monumental update not only bridges the gap between different gaming ecosystems but also brings a suite of new features that enhance the player experience. One of the standout additions is the ability to store Pal data in the Global Palbox, allowing players to transfer their Pals between different worlds seamlessly. Furthermore, the update introduces the Dimensional Pal Storage system, boasting a capacity ten times that of the regular Palbox. This new storage solution is not only accessible to guild members but can also be configured for personal use with private settings.

Players can now dive into a new cosmetic armour system, enabling them to change their character's appearance without affecting their armour stats through the Antique Dresser. This "transmog" feature adds a layer of personalization to the game. Additionally, a new Photo Mode accessible via the Pal Command Wheel allows players to capture stunning in-game moments by hiding the UI and freely moving the camera. The introduction of the Drafting Table enables players to combine lower-rarity blueprints to craft higher-rarity ones, adding depth to the crafting system. Dedicated servers for Mac users have also been implemented, ensuring a smoother experience across different platforms.

Developer Pocketpair has announced plans for dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, promising their release at a future date. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has amassed an impressive 32 million players. The studio has outlined a content roadmap for 2025, which includes an "ending scenario" alongside the crossplay feature and other new content, signaling a bright future for the game.

Launched on Steam for $30 and included in Game Pass for Xbox and PC, Palworld quickly shattered sales and concurrent player number records. Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, acknowledged the overwhelming success, admitting the studio was initially unprepared for the massive profits generated. Capitalizing on this success, Pocketpair signed a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture dedicated to expanding the Palworld IP and bringing the game to the PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Palworld faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who claim the game infringes on "multiple" patent rights and are seeking an injunction and compensation for damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the patents in question and made adjustments to the game, such as modifying how players summon Pals. The studio remains committed to defending its position in court.
