Developer People Can Fly recently scrapped Outriders 2, according to new reports.
The Polish studio, recognized for Outriders and Gears of War Judgment, announced in early June that additional jobs were at risk as it canceled two projects: Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.
In a statement, CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski did not disclose the publishers involved, but PCF's website confirmed Gemini was tied to Square Enix, while Bifrost was self-published.
The cancellations prompted internal team restructuring and followed the April termination of Project Dagger, an action-adventure title initially co-developed with Take-Two Interactive, which exited in September 2022.
A report from Thumb Wars, backed by Insider Gaming, confirmed Project Gemini was an Outriders sequel, halted during motion capture recording.
Square Enix declined to comment when approached by IGN. People Can Fly has not yet responded.
The studio previously reduced operations, laying off 120 employees late last year. It is now collaborating with Krafton on Project Echo, Sony on Project Delta, and Microsoft on Gears of War: E-Day.
IGN's Outriders review scored a 7/10, noting: "Outriders delivers thrilling sci-fi shooting and looting, despite its weak story and rough edges." PCF's latest release, Bulletstorm VR, updates the classic shooter for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.
