Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launching Soon

Netflix is venturing into the realm of MMOs with the announcement of *Spirit Crossing*, a cozy life-simulation game developed by Spry Fox, unveiled at GDC 2025. If you're familiar with Spry Fox's previous titles, such as *Cozy Grove* and *Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit*, you can anticipate *Spirit Crossing* to feature warm pastel visuals, soothing melodies, and a strong emphasis on fostering connections rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In *Spirit Crossing*, players will have the opportunity to explore an expansive world, construct and adorn homes, and foster a flourishing village alongside fellow players. The gameplay includes gathering resources, riding on adorable fluffy creatures, participating in dance parties, and simply enjoying the company of friends.

Visually, *Spirit Crossing* draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even incorporates elements of modern art styles like Corporate Memphis. The aim is to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere where players feel at home and are encouraged to stay for the long haul.

One of the standout features is an innovative in-game calendar system that impacts progression. For instance, trees planted by players won’t grow overnight; instead, they might take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes Spry Fox's experimental approach seen in *Cozy Grove*.

The game underscores the importance of forming meaningful connections, a principle deeply ingrained in Spry Fox’s design ethos. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his desire for *Spirit Crossing* to serve as a platform that transforms strangers into friends.

Netflix has released a captivating trailer for *Spirit Crossing*, which you can check out below:

The game is set to launch later this year. In the meantime, don't miss our next feature on *The Great Sneeze*, which transforms classic art into a playful puzzle adventure, available now.
