Insomniac's Resistance 4 Pitch Rejected

By EleanorMay 25,2025

There was a significant effort by the team at Insomniac Games to bring Resistance 4 to life, but unfortunately, the project never received the approval it needed to move forward. As Insomniac Games' founder and retiring president, Ted Price, recently shared in an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Resistance 4 was a game that held a special place in his heart. When asked about a favorite game pitch that never materialized, Price didn't hesitate to mention Resistance 4.

"Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4," Price stated, reflecting on the pitch that he and his team were passionate about. He explained that the concept was compelling, but due to timing and market opportunities, it didn't come to fruition. Price expressed a strong belief in the potential of the Resistance series, noting that it had established an intriguing alternate history where the narrative involving the alien Chimera could have explored new directions and origins.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac following their successful Ratchet and Clank franchise, is known for its first-person shooter gameplay set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. The series produced three titles, all released on the PlayStation 3, before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, including the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank games.

Earlier this year, Ted Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games after more than three decades with the company. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to lead the studio into its next chapter.

Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently became available on PC, and the studio is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine, their next anticipated title.
