Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
The Haunted Mirror stands out among Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions. Its benefits significantly outweigh the risks, making it a highly recommended item if encountered during an investigation. Its function remains consistent across game updates.
This powerful artifact reveals the ghost's current preferred room on the map, providing a panoramic view. Knowing the map layout allows for swift ghost location and strategic equipment placement, significantly improving your chances of success before the investigation becomes perilous.
The Haunted Mirror typically appears hanging on a wall (like in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or resting on the floor in its pre-determined location. Remember, Cursed Objects always spawn in the same spot on a given map; the randomness lies in which Cursed Object appears.
To utilize the mirror, pick it up and use the designated button (mouse or controller) to activate it. The reflection will display the ghost's favored room. On Professional difficulty or higher, remember that the ghost's location may shift after a period.
However, prolonged gazing into the mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration results in shattering and triggers a Cursed Hunt at your location. Therefore, use it when your sanity is high and be prepared to interpret the reflection quickly.
Understanding Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia
Unlike standard equipment, which aids in ghost detection and evidence gathering with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer strategic advantages at a substantially higher risk to your character.
The risk associated with each Cursed Object varies, leaving the decision to use them to your discretion. There's no penalty for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
