Evil Dead: The Game has been permanently removed from digital storefronts, marking an abrupt end to sales after its publisher initiated takedowns.
The asymmetrical multiplayer title inspired by the cult classic horror series launched in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Our review awarded it 8/10, praising its exhilarating gameplay while acknowledging some rough edges that mirrored its source material's chaotic charm.
A Game of the Year Edition released in 2023 failed to significantly boost player engagement. The project faced setbacks last September when the Nintendo Switch port was canceled and additional content development ceased.
Now three years post-launch, while the game remains unavailable for purchase, Saber Interactive has confirmed existing owners can still access multiplayer servers indefinitely.
In an official statement on Steam, Saber Interactive explained:
We've started the process of removing the game from digital stores. Current owners will retain access as we're maintaining online servers.
We're deeply grateful to our dedicated community - both our longtime supporters and recent players. Your passion means everything to us.
Steam user reviews reflect mixed reactions, with many long-time players expressing disappointment about the game's removal despite positive experiences. One reviewer with 380+ hours commented, "All good things must end. What an incredible ride while it lasted."
Saber Interactive, fresh off the success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, continues developing licensed adaptations including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an unannounced Avatar: The Last Airbender project. Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 are also in production.
