Fans of the beloved Dragon Quest series have a treat in store, albeit limited to Japan for now. Dragon Quest X, an entry that blends traditional elements with MMORPG mechanics, is making its way to mobile devices. Specifically, the offline version of Dragon Quest X, which was previously released for consoles and PC in 2022, is set to launch on iOS and Android in Japan tomorrow. This version allows players to dive into the game's world as a single-player experience, a departure from its original MMORPG format.
As reported by Gematsu, Japanese fans can grab Dragon Quest X Offline at a discounted premium price. This offline rendition retains the real-time combat and other unique features that set it apart from other entries in the Dragon Quest series. It's noteworthy that Ubitu had plans to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile back in 2013, showing the long-standing interest in a mobile version of this game.
Unfortunately, for fans outside of Japan, there's currently no news on a global release of Dragon Quest X Offline for mobile. The original Dragon Quest X was also exclusive to Japan, and while it's not impossible for the offline version to eventually see an international release, there's little indication of that happening at the moment. It's a disappointing situation for avid Dragon Quest enthusiasts worldwide, especially those who fondly remember games like Sentinels of the Starry Sky and are eager to experience another iteration of the series on their mobile devices.
