Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change

Treyarch has addressed player concerns regarding recent changes to Black Ops 6's Zombies mode, specifically the Directed Mode. A recent update reverses a controversial alteration to zombie spawn delays, restoring the previous 20-second maximum delay after five looped rounds. This decision follows significant player feedback expressing dissatisfaction with the change, which negatively impacted kill farming and camo challenge completion.

The January 9th patch also includes several bug fixes for the Citadelle des Morts map within Directed Mode, addressing issues with quest progression, guidance inaccuracies, and visual glitches. Furthermore, the powerful Shadow Rift Ammo Mod receives substantial buffs, including increased activation rates for normal, special, and elite enemies (with the Big Game Augment), and a 25% cooldown reduction.

Other notable improvements in the update include:

  • Global Fixes: Resolved visual issues with Maya's "Joyride" Operator Skin and the Events tab, along with audio problems affecting in-game event milestone banners.
  • Multiplayer: Increased XP rewards in Red Light, Green Light mode and implemented various stability enhancements.
  • Zombies: Addressed a crash bug associated with the Void Sheath Augment and Elemental Swords in Citadelle des Morts, and restored visual effects previously malfunctioning on the map.

The January 9th patch notes also preview further improvements planned for the Black Ops 6 Season 2 update launching January 28th. This includes resolving remaining bugs, such as the Vermin double-attack issue. Players are encouraged to complete the Citadelle des Morts main quest before Season 1 Reloaded concludes.

Key Changes Summarized:

  • Zombies Directed Mode: Reversed the extended round and spawn delay changes.
  • Citadelle des Morts: Numerous bug fixes and visual improvements.
  • Shadow Rift Ammo Mod: Significant buffs to activation rates and cooldown.
  • General Improvements: Various stability fixes and UI/audio enhancements across all game modes.
