*Build Defense* is a thrilling *Roblox* game where you construct a base using blocks while facing various threats like monster attacks, tornados, bombs, or even aliens. While it may seem reminiscent of *Minecraft* at first, it's actually closer in spirit to the original *Fortnite*—a game that, despite its evolution, started with similar survival and building mechanics.
Whether you're drawing inspiration from *Minecraft* or *Fortnite*, *Build Defense* offers a unique twist that's both fun and challenging. To help you get started, we've created this Beginner's Guide to navigate the game's complexities and enhance your experience.
Build Defense Beginner's Guide
Below, we've outlined essential tips and strategies that we wish we knew when we first started playing. Implementing these will not only make the game more enjoyable but also accelerate your progress.
The Object of the Game is to Survive…
Screenshot by The EscapistWhen you start in *Build Defense*, you might think the goal is to protect your plot of land. However, the true objective is to survive, or simply put, not to die. The game throws multiple hazards at you, and your mission is to endure them. Building a defensive structure on your plot is the ideal strategy, but you can also evade dangers by running around the world until they pass. Each successful survival earns you a "Win" and some in-game currency, which are crucial for progressing. Keep an eye on screen messages and focus on staying alive.
…Dying is Completely Normal
Screenshot by The EscapistDon't stress if you die; it's a common occurrence in *Build Defense*. There are minimal consequences—you'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current wave, but these setbacks are manageable. You can repurchase your weapons and items, and your structures remain intact. New attack waves come every two minutes, giving you plenty of opportunities to try again. Essentially, you only lose a bit of time, which isn't much in the grand scheme of things.
Build High, Not Low

A better approach is to construct a set of stairs that lead high into the sky and create a platform at the top. When night falls, climb up to wait it out. Most monsters will fall while trying to ascend the steep stairs, and those who reach the top can be met with a barrage of turrets. This setup is highly effective for surviving most nights.
Don't Just Build, Explore!
Screenshot by The EscapistThere's much more to do in *Build Defense* than just building on your plot. You can visit other players, sell ores, and undertake quests. While many quests require a certain number of Wins to unlock, some, like the Gingerbread's House quest, are available from the start. Completing these quests can unlock new building parts, enhancing your base's design and functionality.
The "Shop" Isn't Just for Premium Items

Before diving into the Shop, spend some time playing the game. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and to like, favorite, and follow the game for a free gift.
When You're Ready, Move to the Next Area
