Indie developer Sander Frenken has exciting news for strategy game enthusiasts: his upcoming game, Battledom, is now in Alpha testing. As a follow-up to his successful 2020 release, Herodom, this RTS-lite game promises a rich strategic experience. Frenken, a part-time developer, has dedicated approximately two years to crafting Battledom, which he describes as an extension of his original vision for Herodom.
In Battledom, players will engage in real-time strategy battles, freely maneuvering units across expansive maps. A key feature is the ability to target enemies with precision, using siege weapons to devastating effect. The game also introduces tactical depth through various unit formations, enhancing the strategic gameplay.
To build your army, you'll use coins to recruit new units, which start off with basic weaponry and no armor. However, Battledom offers extensive customization options. You can enhance your units by equipping them with a variety of weapons and armor, each affecting crucial stats like range, accuracy, defense points, and attack power.
Resource management is central to Battledom. Instead of finding items in the wild, you'll gather resources such as wood, leather, and coal within your village. These can be transformed into powerful items by visiting specialized crafters like the blacksmith or magician, adding a layer of depth to the game's economy and crafting system.
Sander Frenken's previous game, Herodom, has earned a commendable 4.6 rating on the App Store. It features over 55 heroes and 150 units and siege weapons, challenging players to engage in historically inspired battles. As players progress, they unlock new hairstyles, bodies, crops, and animals for their farm, adding to the game's replayability.
Interested players can join the Battledom Alpha by downloading TestFlight on their iOS devices. To stay updated on this promising RTS-lite and Frenken's other projects, follow him on X or Reddit, or visit his games on the App Store.
