"Assassin's Creed Shadows Surpasses 2 Million Players in Two Days, Outperforming Origins and Odyssey"

By ChristianMay 16,2025

Ubisoft has celebrated another milestone for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, announcing that the game has reached 2 million players since its release on March 20. This impressive figure marks a significant increase from the 1 million players on launch day, surpassing the initial launches of both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey. Ubisoft expressed gratitude to fans, stating, "Thank you for joining the journey in Feudal Japan!"

PlayWhile Ubisoft has yet to disclose specific sales figures for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the game has quickly become the top-selling title on Steam. This marks a notable return for Ubisoft to the platform after years of PC exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. At the time of this article's publication, Assassin’s Creed Shadows boasted 58,894 concurrent players on Steam, securing a spot in the top 30 most-played games on Valve’s platform. Analysts anticipate that this peak will rise further during the game's opening weekend.

For context, Assassin’s Creed Origins achieved an all-time Steam peak of 41,551 players over seven years ago, while Odyssey reached 62,069. Given these numbers, it's likely that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will soon claim the title of the most-played Assassin’s Creed game on Steam.

In comparison, BioWare's single-player RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, launched on Steam on October 31, 2024, and saw a peak of 89,418 players. It's important to note that the true concurrent peak for Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be significantly higher, considering its launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as well. Unfortunately, neither Sony nor Microsoft release player numbers publicly.
