The latest addition to Ubisoft's expansive lineup of stealth-action open-world games, *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, has finally arrived. With over 30 games released under the *Assassin's Creed* banner, we're focusing solely on the mainline entries here, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like *Bloodlines* or *Liberation*.
The *Assassin's Creed* saga began in 2007 with Desmond Miles stepping into the Animus to embody his ancestor Altaïr. Fast forward 18 years, and we find ourselves in 16th-century Japan, controlling Naoe and Yasuke in the 14th installment of the core series. I've ranked these games in an IGN Tier List based on my personal enjoyment, and you can check out my rankings here:
*Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag* remains my personal favorite, cherished for its blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast of characters. It shares the S-tier with *Assassin's Creed 2*, the game that truly thrust the series into the spotlight. In the A-tier, you'll find *Valhalla*, which might surprise some due to its expansive nature, but I adored the Viking-inspired combat and the addictive Orlog minigame. Also in A-tier is *Unity*, whose depiction of French Revolution-era Paris remains breathtaking even a decade later.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you find *Valhalla* too bloated or believe *Assassin's Creed 2* is overrated? Create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the broader IGN community.
