Xiaomi's new WinPlay Engine: Play Windows games on your Android tablet!
Xiaomi has unveiled its innovative WinPlay Engine, enabling local Windows game play on Android tablets with minimal performance impact. Currently in beta, it's exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro.
This impressive technology utilizes a three-layer virtualization system powered by Xiaomi's HyperCore kernel, allowing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-equipped Pad 6S Pro to run Windows games. Xiaomi claims a mere 2.9% GPU performance loss – a small price to pay for the convenience of playing PC games on a tablet.
Key Features:
- Near-native performance: Experience minimal performance degradation while playing demanding PC titles.
- Steam support (potentially): Access your existing Steam game library directly (compatibility details pending).
- Bluetooth peripheral support: Enjoy seamless gameplay with keyboards, mice, and Xbox controllers (including haptic feedback).
- Local multiplayer: Engage in local multiplayer sessions with up to four players.
Setup:
While the process isn't entirely plug-and-play (it's still in beta), it involves purchasing games from platforms like Steam or GOG, transferring the game files to your tablet, and launching them through the AI Treasure Box app.
Availability:
The WinPlay Engine is currently limited to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro. Future device compatibility remains unannounced.
