Rumor: Halo: MCC and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Headed to PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025
A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be making its way to PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The same source claims a release window of sometime in 2025 for these potential ports. This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to expand the availability of its first-party titles to other platforms. Previous releases under this initiative include Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves, with As Dusk Falls and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 also included depending on interpretation. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is slated for a PS5 release in Spring 2025.
This isn't the only major Xbox franchise rumored for multi-platform release. NateTheHate also indicated that a Microsoft Flight Simulator title is likely to launch on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025, strongly implying Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, released November 19th.
More Xbox Games Expected to Go Multi-Platform
This rumor is supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that significantly more Xbox games will be released on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden has previously stated his belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is ending.
The future multi-platform expansion of the Call of Duty franchise is also practically guaranteed, thanks to a ten-year agreement between Microsoft and Nintendo. The lack of Switch releases to date may be attributed to Microsoft awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2, better suited for the game's graphical demands.
