Xbox Game Pass: Unbeatable Value for RPG Enthusiasts Currently

By AnthonyMay 18,2025

I've always been a dedicated PC gamer, lured by the allure of frequent Steam sales for the latest releases. Xbox Game Pass, while offering big-name titles, never quite seemed essential to me—until yesterday's game-changing announcements. The unexpected launch of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass was a revelation, even if it was a poorly kept secret. And just tomorrow, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* from Sandfall Interactive, a stylish JRPG-inspired debut, will join the service. As a passionate RPG enthusiast, I must confess: Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – 1 Month Membership – Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Cloud Gaming Devices [Digital Code]

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released on April 22 across PC, consoles, and Game Pass. Like many, I spent the day downloading and the night immersed in its revamped music. Key updates in this near-remake include enhanced character models, refined combat, and upgraded visual effects. While new voice actors have been added, Virtuos has preserved the original's quirky dialogue. Priced at $49.99, the base edition includes both original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for $10 more.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the eagerly awaited debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, launches tonight at 12am PST in the U.S. It has garnered a stellar 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 for its compelling story and describing it as "a true modern throwback." The game's sleek UI evokes the Persona series, and its innovative turn-based combat system is among the most impressive I've seen. It's priced at $49.99, matching the Bethesda remaster.

While Expedition 33 was set to be the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the surprise release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a shadow over the indie game's debut. However, I see it as a win-win situation: two fantastic games for the price of one. Instead of shelling out $100 for both, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only dilemma is when I'll see the sun again.

Game Pass has recently added several of 2025's most anticipated titles, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics like GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. There truly is something for every gamer.

Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now

Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99/month, offering access to the entire Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only version is more affordable at $9.99/month, while the Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, do not include day-one releases. The last price increase occurred in July 2024, and with such high-profile game launches, another hike might be on the horizon.

Currently, there are no active Game Pass deals, but purchasing a three-month subscription could shield you from future price increases.
