World of Warcraft's Feast of Winter Veil: A Lore-Filled Holiday Celebration
The annual World of Warcraft Feast of Winter Veil event, mirroring real-world Christmas celebrations, returns with fresh rewards and activities. This year's festivities include new collectable items, gold, and other goodies.
A recently released lore video, a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, delves into the rich history of Winter Veil. The video explores the holiday's origins, weaving together the Dwarven myth of Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of reflection and gratitude, and the modern commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.
Metzen the Reindeer's Misadventures:
No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after Chris Metzen. This unfortunate creature has endured three kidnappings: by pirates and Dark Iron Dwarves in Classic WoW, and by the Grinch in the current iteration. The video humorously concludes with Metzen thanking viewers in Thrall's voice (a nod to Metzen's voice acting role).
PlatinumWoW's Continued Collaboration:
This isn't PlatinumWoW's first official collaboration with Blizzard. Previous videos have covered topics like Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, and Blackrock Depths. Blizzard's recent collaborations also include Taliesin & Evitel's guides for returning players and Hurricane's cinematic trailers.
Current Winter Veil Festivities:
Players can still participate in the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. Hunters can tame the Dreaming Festive Reindeer, and all players can acquire new holiday transmogs and the Grunch pet. Don't forget to check under the virtual tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind for a special gift!
