Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide

Your adventure kicks off right in the heart of town, across from the Gun Store and Hospital and in front of the Trading Hut. Start by ditching any excess loot and arming yourself. In my opinion, a Rifle is a solid choice here. It costs only $75 and packs enough punch to fend off most enemies, at least temporarily. After equipping yourself, don't forget to purchase coal to fuel your boat—its old-school engine needs it.

The next town is 10,000m away, so all you need to do is start the boat and you're on your way. You can stop to take out and loot Zombies and Drowned, but it's not highly recommended due to minimal valuable loot in the houses. To restart the ship, simply add more coal. Don't be alarmed by the worm on the right side. Wait until the second safe zone to sell off your loot, but watch out for Big Foot and Zombie mobs on both sides of the river.

After reaching the second safe zone/town, you'll encounter numerous burning buildings teeming with mobs. If you're with friends, clear them out, but solo, it's a waste of time due to scattered spawn points. At around 12,000m, you'll find a castle-like house filled with Drowned but also stocked with Shotgun ammo and other valuable loot. Use these resources wisely.

Dead Sails Kraken Tips and Tricks

By now, you should be familiar with the gameplay loop—kill, loot, repeat and hope the enemy suffers defeat. To truly master the game, focus on efficiency by using your boat as your main inventory. Empty your bag when you return to save time and space.

A helpful tip is stacking Zombies near the incinerator. While it's tempting to rush through backwater towns, efficient loot stacking goes a long way. Running low on fuel? Just toss a few Zombies in, and you're set.

Keep an eye on Sheriff's offices as they often contain a higher concentration of mobs, but also rewarding weapons and ammo. I managed to keep my shotgun loaded by having a friend clear the ground floor while we explored each town.

Conserve your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress around 25,000m. It's under construction, making it an easy ambush spot for mobs. I recommend tackling this with at least three people, ideally a group of five. Be efficient when picking up loot.

Avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000m—they're strong, require a lot of ammo, and can be hazardous. Plan your stops carefully; loot isn't everything.

The town after 50,000m is one of my favorite farming spots. It's packed with at least two dozen Drowned and Zombies, perfect for Shotgun users. It's also an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel, so coordinate with your team to prepare bodies for loading quickly.

How to Defeat the Kraken Boss in Dead Sails Kraken

Before facing the Kraken, sell everything at the final safe zone and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't go easy on the Zombies and Drowned; have a stash of at least 8-10 corpses for fuel during this final push. At around 100,000m, you'll reach open waters and be ready to confront the beast. The sign of its arrival will be the skies darkening.

As the Kraken emerges, EVERYONE MUST TARGET A TENTACLE. The boss has substantial health, and each tentacle can attack and deal damage if not repelled. With five people on board, form a pentagram-like shape and focus on your individual targets.

Beware of the water splash ability, which deals area-of-effect damage to multiple players. It's telegraphed by the Kraken winding back and creating a water trail with its tentacle. Don't hesitate to use medkits in this scenario, as some damage is unavoidable.

Lastly, watch out for the Roar AoE, which causes minor, unblockable damage and seems to give the beast a slight damage buff. You'll see it by the white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle that used the ability.
