Koei Tecmo's Upcoming Game Releases: Dynasty Warriors, AAA Titles, and More
Koei Tecmo's recent financial report unveiled a robust lineup of upcoming games, slated for release in late 2024 and beyond. This includes a new Dynasty Warriors title and at least one unannounced AAA game.
A New Dynasty Warriors Game After a Long Wait
Omega Force, the studio behind the Dynasty Warriors series, is developing "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a tactical action game set during the Three Kingdoms period. This marks the first mainline Dynasty Warriors game since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9 (excluding its 2022 expansion). "Dynasty Warriors Origins," featuring a "Nameless Hero," is scheduled for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
Other Upcoming Titles and a Focus on AAA Development
The July 29th report also highlighted "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" (releasing October 2024 on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC) and "FAIRY TAIL 2" (releasing this winter on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC). Crucially, the report confirmed Koei Tecmo is actively developing multiple unannounced titles, including at least one AAA game.
The success of Rise of the Ronin fueled Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 console game profits, solidifying their ambition to become a major player in the AAA market. This ambition is further underscored by the establishment of a dedicated AAA studio, aiming for consistent AAA releases.
Koei Tecmo's strategic goal is to build a sustainable system for producing large-scale titles regularly. While details on their unannounced AAA project remain scarce, their commitment to this sector is clear.
