If you've been following us for a while, you're likely familiar with our parent company's event, Pocket Gamer Connects. As part of this, we host the Big Indie Pitch, a showcase for innovative indie games judged by a panel of experts. Today, we're excited to highlight one of our top runners-up, the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!
At first glance, Talystro might blend in with the crowd of deckbuilding roguelikes, a genre that's currently enjoying immense popularity. However, a closer look reveals why it caught our attention. In Talystro, you take on the role of the math mouse, tasked with defeating numerical monsters to overthrow the evil Necrodicer. The game uniquely blends card and dice mechanics, challenging you to combine them to reach target numbers that will vanquish your foes. Be mindful, though, as you have a limited number of dice rolls per turn.
Crypt of the NecrodicerTalystro sports a charming mix of rubber hose-style animation and fantasy elements, reminiscent of educational math games from childhood. While the math required stays at a basic level, the gameplay is both captivating and straightforward, making it easy to dive into.
Set for release in March, Talystro promises a simple-to-understand yet challenging gameplay loop that many deckbuilders struggle to perfect. This balance is what we believe will captivate players upon its launch.
While you eagerly await Talystro's arrival, why not explore our latest roundup of the top five new mobile games to try this week? It's a great way to keep yourself entertained in the meantime!
