Originally released to much success, the game was pulled from app stores for a significant overhaul. Now, players can once again experience the thrilling world of Sword Art Online, following Kirito and other beloved characters as they battle bosses and enemies in this 3D ARPG adaptation of the hit anime series.
This relaunch brings several key improvements. A new multiplayer mode lets teams of three tackle challenging bosses for rare rewards. Armor is now a possible reward from higher-difficulty stages, offering a more rewarding gameplay loop. And perhaps most excitingly, the main story is now fully voiced!
The initial decision to pull Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown was met with surprise. While the new features are enticing, the impact of that initial negative impression remains to be seen.
