The high demand is anticipated to be fueled by an impressive lineup of launch titles, including a new Mario Kart teased by Nintendo, a new 3D Mario game, and the already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4, all slated to release within the first year of the Switch 2's life. Additionally, Toto expects strong third-party support, including titles like Call of Duty from Activision.

Rumors also swirl around an extensive list of third-party games headed to the Switch 2. In an interview with IGN, Civilization 7 developer Firaxis expressed interest in the Switch 2's apparent Joy-Con mouse mode, calling it "definitely intriguing." French game and accessory maker Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2 and Test Drive Unlimited, has indicated it has Switch 2 games ready to launch. The much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is rumored to be part of the Switch 2's lineup, and EA mentioned that Madden, FC, and The Sims would be well-suited for the platform. Despite these rumors, Activision has yet to officially announce its plans for the Switch 2, and Nintendo has not commented on the report.

June 2025 is increasingly cited as the likely release date for the Switch 2, with Japan-based analyst Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein telling Bloomberg to expect a launch in June with an initial inventory of 6-8 million units. If these units sell out quickly, the Switch 2 could surpass the sales records of its predecessor and even the PlayStation 4 and 5.

Concerns have been raised about the potential impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff war on the Nintendo Switch 2's price. The Trump administration's tariffs on goods from China, Canada, and Mexico could affect the cost and availability of video games and consoles.
