Super Meat Boy 3D Launches Early 2026

By ChristopherMar 14,2026

Super Meat Boy made a blood-splattered comeback at today's Xbox Games Showcase with the surprise reveal of Super Meat Boy 3D. True to its name, this marks the franchise's leap into three-dimensional platforming, launching on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in early 2026.

The gameplay trailer delivers precisely what fans expect: blistering speed through compact death courses filled with industrial meat grinders. Our crimson hero ricochets through hazards, leaving visceral smears of organic matter across every surface, with new wall-sliding mechanics and frame-perfect jumps now translated into full 3D space - fundamentally reimagining the series' signature platforming challenges.

Originally born as a 2008 Flash game by Edmund McMillen and Jonathan McEntee, the franchise became a cult classic with 2010's Super Meat Boy. The sequel perfected punishing yet fair platforming with instant respawns across bite-sized levels, letting players fail spectacularly hundreds of times without frustration. The games embrace their absurd premise - starring an exposed meat cube constantly dismembered by spinning blades.

2020's Super Meat Boy Forever arrived without McMillen's involvement. His role in this 3D iteration remains unknown.

Curiously, the trailer opens with Mario's iconic green warp pipe, despite no Nintendo platform announcement during this Xbox-focused event. The reference currently lacks explanation.
