A PC Release Sooner Than Expected?
During Shift Up's IPO press conference on June 25th, CFO Ahn Jae-woo indicated that a PC version of Stellar Blade is under consideration, viewing it as a significant opportunity for further monetization. This decision reflects the growing PC gaming market and the shift in AAA game consumption away from consoles.
CEO Kim Hyung-Tae confirmed the review of a PC version but couldn't provide a release date due to contractual obligations. This aligns with the company's public filings expressing interest in both a PC release and a potential sequel.
Kim also emphasized Shift Up's commitment to building a high-value IP, fostering a global fanbase, and avoiding potentially damaging microtransactions.
A Packed Roadmap of Updates and Collaborations
Stellar Blade's future is bright, with a confirmed roadmap of updates and DLC planned for the year. This includes a highly anticipated Photo Mode in August, new costumes in October, and a major collaboration to be announced later this year.
Regarding the recent collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim stated that they are exploring opportunities to leverage the synergy between both IPs.
One Million Copies Sold Worldwide!
Stellar Blade's success is undeniable. Shift Up reports approximately one million copies sold globally within two months of its release. The game also achieved top rankings in various markets as a PS5 exclusive.
Furthermore, Stellar Blade boasts the highest user rating for a PS5 exclusive on Metacritic, earning a 9.2/10 score.
