Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Binks wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.
This isn't the only addition to the original 2000 release's roster. Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character selection, with Jar Jar being one of ten new characters revealed so far. The updated game also boasts enhanced features such as customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.
The newly revealed characters aim to tap into the nostalgia of the original Episode I while offering fresh content. While some might have hoped for a "Darth Jar Jar" twist, the trailer shows Binks utilizing a staff and delivering his characteristically chaotic dialogue. His inclusion, along with other additions like the Rodian, various droids (Flame, Destroyer, and Rifle), Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, Ishi Tib, and Gungan Guard, promises a more diverse and expansive gameplay experience. Further character reveals are anticipated before the January 23rd launch.
Aspyr's track record with classic Star Wars game updates, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a potential for a highly polished and satisfying reimagining of Jedi Power Battles. Pre-orders are currently available.
