Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations

I've highlighted ***The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X***, and ***WITCH WATCH*** as must-watch series for the Spring 2025 season on Crunchyroll. However, there are several other gems from the list above that deserve your attention.

***Devil May Cry***, Netflix's latest venture into animated video game adaptations, promises to deliver with its edgy tone, underscored by a Limp Bizkit-soundtracked trailer and a new Evanescence track. With a track record that includes hits like *Castlevania*, *Arcane*, and *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners*, and misses like *Tekken: Bloodline* and *Dragon’s Dogma*, Netflix's approach to anime-style game IPs is a mixed bag. However, with creator Adi Shankar, who brought us *Castlevania* and *Guardians of Justice*, and Studio Mir, known for *Avatar: The Last Airbender* and *Korra*, at the helm, *Devil May Cry* is poised to thrill fans of action-packed anime like *Trigun* with the adventures of the iconic Dante.

***Moonrise***, an original net animation (ONA), brings together blockbuster talent including WIT Studio (*Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga*), character designs by Hiromu Arakawa (*Fullmetal Alchemist*), and direction by Masashi Koizuka (*Attack On Titan* Seasons 2 & 3). This series explores the moon's fight for independence, a concept that could have been a sequel to 2021's *Moonfall*. Despite the limited information available, the involvement of such high-caliber creators suggests a special treat is in store for viewers.

Lastly, ***YAIBA: Samurai Legends***, a revival of the late 1980s manga by Gosho Aoyama (*Case Closed*), promises a blend of samurai comedy and action. Following Yaiba Kurogane's battle against a formidable foe with a magical katana and a demon army, this series, animated by WIT Studio and with Aoyama's direct involvement, is a must-watch for fans of *Detective Conan* and the early, humorous style of *Dragon Ball*, complete with Japanese historical cameos.
