Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and this Tuesday's Spotlight Hour is a must-attend event. With numerous events already underway, make sure you've stocked up on Poké Balls and Berries!

Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the ever-popular weekly Spotlight Hours. These spotlight events feature a specific Pokémon, offering increased catch rates and shiny possibilities. Here's the lowdown on this week's event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

This week's Spotlight Hour, featuring Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Prepare for a double dose of shiny hunting! Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, providing extra damage output when needed.

Given the two Pokémon featured, maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. Having ample storage space is also crucial to avoid interruptions during the event.

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is a two-stage evolution. Catching Voltorb yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch. As an Electric-type, it's weak against Ground-type attacks (160% damage) and resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (5.81 DPS, 40.62 TDO), boosted in Rainy weather. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits discovery.

Hisuian Voltorb (#100), also from Kanto, shares Voltorb's evolution line and rewards (3 candies and 100 Stardust upon capture). It evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies. Its stats mirror Voltorb's (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack). While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type attacks (160% damage) and reduced damage from Grass, Steel, and Water-type attacks (63%), and other Electric-type attacks (39% damage). The best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO), enhanced in Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather. A black Shiny Hisuian Voltorb is waiting to be caught.
