"Split Fiction Surpasses 2 Million Sales in One Week"

By MatthewMay 30,2025

Hazelight Studios has announced that its latest co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, is off to an impressive start, having sold 2 million copies within just one week of its release. The game, which launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, quickly cemented itself as another major success for the studio. Taking to social media, Hazelight expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans, stating they were "blown away" by the response.

Just 48 hours after its debut, Split Fiction had already reached 1 million players. In the five days following, another million copies were sold, bringing the total to 2 million. The game’s co-op nature means the actual number of players experiencing the story is likely even higher, thanks to its Friend’s Pass feature, which lets one player purchase the game while allowing a friend to join without additional cost.

This achievement mirrors the trajectory of Hazelight’s previous hit, It Takes Two, which won Game of the Year in 2021. After selling approximately 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, the game’s popularity surged, reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and doubling to 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN’s Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that seamlessly transitions between genres." As Hazelight continues to gain traction on social media, it’s clear Split Fiction is set to follow a similarly successful path.
