Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see 22 games removed from their library, including high-profile titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is Sony's premier online gaming service for PlayStation platforms. It offers a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members enjoy access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games.
As highlighted by Push Square, the departure of these 22 games on May 20 includes two significant first-party Sony PS3 titles, both set to leave the PS Plus Premium library.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly noteworthy. These games are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store, making the PS Plus Premium streaming service the final avenue for players to experience them, unless they own physical copies and a functional PS3. Both titles were added to the library towards the end of 2024 and are being pulled less than a year later.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games, offers alternate history first-person shooters that followed the studio's successful Ratchet and Clank franchise. The series includes three PS3 titles, but Insomniac has since moved on to other projects like Marvel's Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank games.
While it's rare for Sony to remove its own first-party games from PS Plus, there have been precedents, such as the unexpected removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those games remained available for purchase. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be accessible on modern consoles after their removal.
It's worth noting that Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also set to leave PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been on hiatus for some time. In February, Ted Price, Insomniac's founder and outgoing president, disclosed efforts to develop Resistance 4, which unfortunately did not come to fruition. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been overshadowed by other projects.
