Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: Aladdin, New Modes, and More!
Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered Alpha in 2024.
This launch isn't just about access; it's packed with exciting additions. Leading the charge is Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, debuting alongside the open beta. This Magical Assassin and Jungler boasts unique abilities, including wall-running and enemy-trapping.
But that's not all. The open beta will also feature the return of beloved Gods from the original Smite, including Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, each with revamped skillsets. Expect a roster nearing 50 Gods by the end of January 2025, a substantial increase from the Alpha's 14.
New game modes are also on the horizon. Prepare for Joust, a thrilling 3v3 mode set in an Arthurian-themed arena with teleporters and stealth grass. A 1v1 Duel mode will also utilize this same map. Adding another layer of strategic depth is the Aspects system, allowing players to sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful buff. For instance, Athena loses her ally-shielding teleport but gains a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
Quality-of-life improvements are abundant, including Role Guides for newcomers, enhanced in-game communication, improved item stores, death recaps, and PC text chat. The competitive scene will also heat up, with the first Smite 2 esports tournament finale scheduled for January 17-19 at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas.
Smite 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Mark your calendars for January 14th and prepare for a fresh, exciting MOBA experience!
