Silent Hill f Banned in Australia
Silent Hill f has been banned in Australia following a "Refused Classification" rating from the country's classification board. This decision means the game will not be available for sale, rental, or import in the country.
The Australian Classification Board's decision to issue a "Refused Classification" rating was noted in a now-private publication post, which offered scant details on the reasoning behind the rating. According to the Australian Classification Board, "Refused Classification (RC) refers to films, computer games, and publications that cannot be sold, hired, advertised, or legally imported in Australia." Such content falls outside of generally accepted community standards and surpasses what is permissible under R 18+ and X 18+ ratings.
Contrastingly, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in the United States gave Silent Hill f a "Mature 17+" rating, citing reasons such as blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity. The ESRB's detailed rating summary highlighted frequent blood splatter, enemy attacks impaling the player, cutscenes depicting gore, intense acts of violence, and concept art showing a nude mannequin as key factors for the "M 17+" rating.
The recent Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 provided fans with insights into what to expect from the game. Given the ratings, it appears that Silent Hill f is set to be one of the franchise's most graphic and violent entries yet.
