Silent Hill 2 Remake Developer Bloober Signs Deal for Another Game for Konami — Could It Be More Silent Hill?

By MilaMar 16,2025

Bloober Team, fresh off the success of their Silent Hill 2 remake, has announced a new partnership with Konami to develop a game based on one of Konami's iconic IPs. While neither company has revealed the title or franchise, Bloober's expertise in horror and the remarkable sales of the Silent Hill 2 remake (2 million copies sold!) strongly suggest another entry in the Silent Hill series is likely. Konami will act as both publisher and rights holder for this mystery project.

Here's a statement from Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno:

Konami, a legendary name in gaming, sought a partner to revitalize one of their most iconic franchises – Silent Hill. Bloober Team was chosen for our expertise in horror and atmospheric storytelling. In 2021, we signed a partnership agreement, and in October 2022, we announced the Silent Hill 2 remake during the Silent Hill Transmission livestream. The remake, widely considered one of the best psychological horror games ever, proved our ability to capture the original's atmosphere and depth while adding crucial innovations. It received an 86/100 on Metacritic and an 88/100 on OpenCritic, along with numerous awards, including Game of the Year 2024 from IGN Japan and Best Horror Game of the Year from the IGN Community Awards.

This success built trust, leading to this new agreement. It aligns with Bloober Team's strategic plan to expand our internal development within a first-party framework. Our collaboration with Konami has been incredibly fruitful, and the Silent Hill 2 remake's success speaks for itself. By sharing knowledge and experience, we've created high-quality productions together. While details are limited, we're confident fans will be thrilled. We look forward to sharing something truly special.

The Silent Hill 2 remake launched October 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam (an Xbox Series X|S version is yet to be announced). Within days, it sold over one million copies, potentially making it the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever, though Konami is yet to confirm this record. IGN awarded the remake an 8/10, stating: “Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in survival horror history.”
