Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon departs Netflix, Devs seek Mobile Solution

By AuroraDec 21,2024

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is leaving Netflix Games. Developer Yacht Club Games announced the news, stating they are exploring future options for the game.

The game will remain available on other platforms, including Steam, Switch, and PlayStation 4. However, this is little consolation for those who only played it through Netflix.

Yacht Club Games has confirmed they are investigating further distribution options, suggesting a standalone mobile release may be in the works. However, a quick release is not guaranteed.

A Risky Business: The departure highlights a key risk of subscription gaming services: players have even less control over their games compared to other digital purchases. Removal from the service leaves players dependent on the developer for future access.

Yacht Club Games likely has several avenues open to them, assuming no contractual restrictions. We can anticipate further news, possibly in 2025.

Meanwhile, numerous other games are available. Check out our list of the top five new mobile games this week for alternatives!
