Shift Up's Stellar Blade Sees Record Year, PC Sales to Surpass PS5

By JosephMay 13,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking financial year. According to the 2024 financial report released by Shift Up, as cited by Game World Observer, the company achieved a staggering revenue of $151.4 million, marking a 30.4% increase from the previous year. A significant contributor to this impressive figure was Stellar Blade, which alone generated $43.2 million in royalties.

The momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Shift Up confidently predicts that the upcoming PC version of Stellar Blade will outsell the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the lucrative Asian gaming market. In addition to this, the studio is set to unveil its next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Although fans have been eagerly requesting a sequel to Stellar Blade, Project Witches was announced shortly after the PS5 launch of Stellar Blade in 2024, and it appears to be a different venture. However, Shift Up has indicated that they are considering developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade immerses players in the role of Eve, who engages in fast-paced action role-playing game combat to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game received a 7/10 score from IGN, with the review highlighting its strengths in core action gameplay, while noting that it was held back by "dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics." Despite these critiques, Stellar Blade quickly reached a sales milestone of one million copies, underscoring its popularity among gamers.
