Despite the high-profile crossover event featuring Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, Sonic Rumble won't be launching globally as originally planned. The battle royale game had garnered significant momentum with 1.4 million pre-registrations, but Sega has decided to postpone the release temporarily.
The delay coincides with development of update 1.2, which introduces game-changing features to Dr. Eggman's toybox world. Players can look forward to Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills - each designed to add depth and strategy beyond simple battle royale chaos.
Rumble Rankings will introduce seasonal competitive leaderboards with rewards, while Crews enables cooperative play with friends through score missions. The new Skills system gives characters unique abilities for enhanced tactical gameplay.

Rather than implementing these features mid-launch, Sega is taking extra time to perfect the experience. Fans can participate in a Discord Q&A on May 2nd to learn about development progress and submit questions.
While awaiting launch, players might explore these top iOS battle royale games currently available.
The delay doesn't forfeit the game's successful pre-registration campaign. All rewards remain secured, including 5,000 Rings, Crystal Chao Buddy, Happy Sticker, Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin unlocked at 1.4 million sign-ups.
Pre-registration remains open through the official website. Sonic Rumble will be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. Visit the game's site for the latest updates and registration links.
