Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 Announce Exciting Crossover

By AaronMay 23,2025

A thrilling crossover has emerged as a Sony property ventures into a Microsoft game. Sea of Thieves has introduced new cosmetics inspired by the universe of Destiny 2, bringing the battle against the Darkness to the high seas.

The Lightbearer cosmetics set includes a range of new items such as flags, ship cosmetics, a costume set, and more. The trailer for these new items features various nods to Destiny, including the Drifter's outfit and a ghost hanging off the bow of a ship. The Pirate Emporium offers a plethora of options for customizing your ship and sailor with Destiny-themed cosmetics.

PlayLast year, Sea of Thieves made its debut on PlayStation, becoming one of several Microsoft titles to transition to Sony's console. Destiny, on the other hand, has been available on Xbox and stayed there even after Bungie's acquisition by Sony. While this crossover might blur some traditional console boundaries, it's an exciting collaboration, and the Drifter's outfit, in particular, blends seamlessly with the world of Sea of Thieves.

Season 15 of Sea of Thieves has recently launched, introducing new encounters, voyages, and additional content to the enduring piracy experience. Rare's game has maintained its popularity over time and has even thrived on the PlayStation 5, topping an EU sales chart upon its release on the platform.

Destiny 2 has also seen recent developments with the launch of Heresy and continues to navigate its narrative journey following the significant conclusion in The Final Shape. The space-faring shooter has engaged in other crossovers, most notably with Star Wars.

Both games have successfully adapted to the evolving landscape of live-service game production, making this Sea of Thieves crossover particularly noteworthy. The Destiny-inspired cosmetics are now available in Sea of Thieves, though it's unclear whether Destiny 2 will receive any Sea of Thieves-themed content in return. As a suggestion, incorporating a large pirate ship into the space environment of Destiny 2 could be an exciting addition.
